This video demonstrates WO2001's ability to simulate Heywood Floyd's journey from Earth to the Tycho Magnetic Anomaly. Beginning with scenes described in Arthur C Clarke's novel - Floyd's flight from Washington, and the launch from KSC of an Orion III spaceplane atop its fly-back booster - the video then depicts scenes familiar from the film.
Note that some artistic license is used here. As a result of Orbiter's accurate ephemeris data the "Floyd's Journey" scenarios included in WO2001 depict a landing at Clavius base during lunar night, with sun rise over TMA-1 at a slightly later date than commonly supposed in 2001:ASO timelines.

This video depicts Cytherian Station at Venus, from Arthur C Clarke's 'Lost Worlds of 2001', being met by the Aquarius 1d spacecraft. The Aquarius family of spacecraft are an example of the technology we logically suppose would exist in the 'World of 2001'.

In 'World of 2001' The Soviet 'Titov V' (described in Clarke's novel of '2001 A Space Odyssey') can be launched in a configuration which gives it an advantage over the US Orion III. This configuration, known to the Soviets as the 'Kludge', includes both a winged flyback booster and an external tank , allowing the Titov V to extend its operations to a high Earth orbit or even a lunar flyby, as depicted in this video.

In Arthur C Clarke's novel of '2001 a Space Odyssey', Heywood Floyd travels from a midnight meeting with the President to the Kennedy Space Center, before departing for orbit on the Orion III in the early hours. We suppose Floyd made his Washington - Florida flight aboard a Boeing 2707 SST. We also entertain the idea that the 2707 was used in early flight testing of the Orion III. This video depicts just that!

This video depicts a story from Arthur C Clarke's 'Lost World's of 2001', that of Dave Bowman's journey to Mars, concluding in the same time frame as Heywood Floyd's lunar expedition. After the Tycho Magnetic Anomaly transmits its signal to Jupiter, Bowman is recalled to command the Discovery-XD1. Bowman never gets to Mars and its largest settlement Port Lowell, instead the Polaris reaches the small base at Phobos, where he receives his orders to return.
